Feira de Artesanato na Praça José Bonifácio - Craft Fair at the Plaza Jose Bonifacio
Essa semana a Feira foi realizada na Praça José Bonifácio, centro. Gostaria que tivesse o mesmo sucesso que tínhamos alguns anos atrás. A maioria dos piracicabanos, infelizmente não prestigiam o que tem de melhor no artesanato, no que a maioria dos artesão criam. Muitos, tenho percebido, vão pra ter ideias pra também executar, isso porque comentam sem qualquer constrangimento. Fazer o que? Torcer sempre pra que a "divulgação" chegue àqueles que tenham mais interesse pela feira e gostem dos produtos "artesanais". Confesso que tem muita coisa comprada sim, mas juntamente com os produtos industrializados, tem o trabalho do artesão. Hoje, é muito difícil encontrar uma Feira 100% artesanal.
A minha mãe e minha irmã, quando estavam na Feira há vinte anos atrás, tudo o que tinha na feira, inclusive na banca delas, eram feitos tudo pelo artesão. O tempo foi passando, e muitos artesão foram desistindo e outros mais "espertos" foram chegando, e os que ficaram também passaram ser "espertos" também. As melhores Feiras tem sido na Rua do Porto, justamente porque ali tem a maior concentração de visitantes de outras cidades, de estados e até de países. Pode isso? Pode sim. Demorou para a Secretaria de Turismo entender que temos que estar onde podemos demonstrar os nossos produtos e vender, mesmo porque estamos na Feira pra isso. Sem contar que uma média de 20% dos artesãos estão na Feira porque é a primeira fonte de renda, 20% renda complementar, os demais por as vezes precisarem estar fora de seu ambiente comum ou por hobby.
Bom, por hoje é só.

Most of Piracicaba, unfortunately that has not honor the best in craftsmanship, in most artisan creates. Many have noticed, going to have ideas to run too, because this comment without any embarrassment. Doing what? Always twist to the "disclosure" goes to those who have more interest in products like Fair and "craft." I confess that I have bought a lot yes, but along with industrial goods, has the job of the craftsman. Today, it is very difficult to find a fair 100% handmade.
My mother and my sister, when they were in fair twenty years ago, all I had at the fair, including the banking of them, were all made by the artisan. Time passed, and many artisans were giving up and more "smart" were coming, and those that also have to be "smart" too. The best shows have been in Rua do Porto, precisely because there has the highest concentration of visitors from other cities, states and even countries. Can it? Can do. Soon the Department of Tourism to understand that we have to be where we can demonstrate our products and sell, even at the fair because we are for it. Not to mention that an average of 20% of the artisans are at the Fair because it is the primary source of income, 20% additional income, other times by the need to be out of their common environment or hobby.

HOJE, ANIVERSÁRIO DE PIRACICABA - TODAY, THE ANNIVERSARY PIRACICABA.
Piracicaba comemora nesse 1º de agosto, 243 anos. E pra comemorar esse dia especial teve vários eventos na Rua do Porto. E a Feira de Artesanato esteve presente.

BREVE HISTÓRIA DE PIRACICABA - BRIEF HISTORY OF PIRACICABA
Em Tupi-Guarani: lugar onde o peixe pára.
Para o nosso povo: lugar ideal para se viver.

Em 1766, o capitão-general de São Paulo, D. Luís Antônio de Souza Botelho Mourão, encarregou Antônio Corrêa Barbosa de fundar uma povoação na foz do rio Piracicaba. No entanto, o capitão povoador optou pelo local onde já se haviam fixados alguns posseiros e onde habitavam os índios Paiaguás, à margem direita do salto, a 90 quilômetros da foz, no lugar mais apropriado da região. A povoação seria ponto de apoio às embarcações que desciam o rio Tiête e daria retaguarda ao abastecimento do forte de Iguatemi, fronteiriço do território do Paraguai.
Oficialmente, o povoado de Piracicaba, termo da Vila de Itu, foi fundado em 1o. de agosto de 1767, sob a invocação de Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres. Em 1774, a povoação constitui-se freguesia, com uma população estimada em 230 habitantes, desvinculando-se de Itu em 21 de junho.
Em 1784, Piracicaba foi transferida para a margem esquerda do rio, logo abaixo do salto, onde os terrenos melhores favoreciam sua expansão. A fertilidade da terra atraiu muitos fazendeiros, ocasionando a disputa de terras. Em 29 de novembro de 1821, Piracicaba foi elevada à categoria de vila, tomando o nome de Vila Nova da Constituição, em homenagem à promulgação da Constituição Portuguesa, ocorrida naquele ano.
A partir de 1836, houve um importante período de expansão. Não havia lote de terra desocupado e predominavam as pequenas propriedades. Além da cultura do café, os campos eram cobertos pelas plantações de arroz, feijão e milho, de algodão e fumo, mais pastagens para criação de gado. Piracicaba era um respeitado centro abastecedor.
Em 24 de abril de 1856, Vila Nova da Constituição foi elevada à categoria de cidade. Em 1877, por petição do então vereador Prudente de Moraes, mais tarde primeiro presidente civil do Brasil, o nome da cidade foi oficialmente mudado para Piracicaba, "o mais certo, o correto e como era conhecida popularmente".
O Aniversário de Piracicaba é comemorado em 01 de Agosto.
